PLACES RELATED TO INDIAN MINIATURE PAINTING

Indian miniature painting can be roughly classified into two categories: Rajput painting and Mughal painting. Rajput painting was painted mainly in Rajasthan, Malwa and Bundelkhand regions and Gujarat that is flat area and Pahari region where is located at the northern part of Punjab Hills that is hilly area. The Mughal Empire expanded its territory to North India, centered on Delhi, Agra, etc., the region of Bengal in the east and the region of Deccan in the south. The Indian miniature paintings were executed under the patronage of the royalties and nobilities of those kingdoms, or the emperors. There are production places where there is nothing remained, such as forts and palaces today, but there are also some places where we can feel the scenery and atmosphere depicted in the miniature paintings. In our studies, we consider it is also essential to visit and research those places on the premise that there may not be any evidence left today.

We have put emphasis on Rajput painting.
